Judson University Fall Orientation 2008

Fall Orientation Weekend will begin on Friday, August 22 and go through until Sunday, August 24.

The first day of classes will be on Tuesday, August 26.

Please note: Payment of the student bill is due August 12.

Friday, August 22

9-11 a.m.               Check in begins

Students planning to live on campus will check in at their residence hall (check out what to bring and what not to bring below) and commuter students can check in at the Herrick Chapel lawn. Additional information about arriving to campus will be in your Orientation packet that will be mailed to your home in August.

9-3 p.m.                  Questions?

The orientation staff with be on hand outside of the Herrick Chapel to answer questions.

11-11:30 a.m.       Welcome Time at the Herrick Chapel

11:30-3 p.m.         Check in continues

11:30-1 p.m.         It's Lunchtime!

12-4 p.m.               Campus Business

                                 Register for classes with an Academic Advisor

1:30-4 p.m.            Parent Welcome Center

2-3 p.m.                  Academic Expectations with
                                 
Dr. Dale Simmons, Provost and 
                                 Vice President of Academic Affairs

3:30-4:30 p.m.      A Parent's Inside Look at College Life
                                 with Student Development

4:45-6:45 p.m.      Picnic Dinner

7:15-8:15 p.m.      President's Chapel

8:30-9:30 p.m.      Faith and Learning Student Mentor Groups 
                          (attendance is required for students enrolled in Faith and Learning)
                                 
                                 Parent/Faculty Mixer

10:00 p.m.             Residence Hall Gatherings

Saturday, August 23

8:30-9:30 a.m.     Breakfast is served!

10-10:30 a.m.      Parents meet Faith and Learning Mentors

11:30-1:00 p.m.  Church Fair

                                Lunch is served
 
                         (after lunch, parents and friendas are encouraged to depart)!

1-4:30 p.m.          Faith and Learning Mentor Groups Serve
                         (attendance is required)

5:30-6:30 p.m.    Dinner time!

7:30-8:15 p.m.    Faith and Learning Mentor Groups 
                        (attendance is required)

8:30-9:15 p.m.    Technology Informational Meeting 
                    (attendance is required)

9:30 p.m.              Movie Under the Stars

Sunday, August 24

9:30-10:15 a.m.   Continental Breakfast

10:30-11:30 a.m. Judson University student led worship service

11:30-12:30 p.m. Lunch is served!

12:30-1:30 p.m.   Judson Student Organization (JSO) Session

2:30-4:30 p.m.     Open Gym

5-6 p.m.                Dinner is served!

7:30-8 p.m.          Meet your Big Sib and the J-Squad!

8-9 p.m.                J-Squad Mingle

**Students who plan to have an on campus job will need to have their original social security card (no copies) for W-2 purposes, for proof of identification and for proof of the eligibility to work.**

I'M MOVING IN, SO WHAT DO I NEED?

Dorm Checklist:

BEDDING:
*
two sets of sheets (mattresses are 39" x 75")
*pillows and pillow cases
*blankets
*bedspread

FURNISHINGS:
*wastebasket
*desk lamp
*fan
*alarm clock
*shower curtain
*towels and washcloths
*bath mat
*tv
*refrigerator (up to 2 cubic ft)
*small appliances are permitted
*ethernet cord (all dorms are wireless)

PERSONAL:
*clothing
*toiletries (toilet paper is provided in the dorms)
*medicine
*knick-knacks (a few things to make your room feel a little homey)
*quarters (laundry money)

WHAT NOT TO BRING:
*pets (fish are usually ok)
*fire arms
*off season clothing (closets are limited in spacing though)
*candles
*nails (please use putty to put up posters)
*extension cords (power strips are allowed)
